Would you like to do something different for the summer?
Why not be a theatrical director?
We are looking for young people who are willing to direct a group of 10-12 year-olds in a play of your choice at a summer camp in Halkidiki!
Applicants need to be enthusiastic, hard-working and have a knowledge of English because some of the children will be from England. Applicants should also have relevant experience which should be explained in your letter of application.
Please write to Ms Christou to apply for this job.
Dear Ms Christou,
I am writing to apply for the theatrical director job in your summer camp, as advertised in the local newspaper. I would be very interested in working as a theatrical director since I love theatre and kids.
I am thirteen years old and still at school. One of my subjects is Theatrical Education and I am thinking of studying acting when I leave school. I speak English very well and I am not afraid of hard work. Also I had a relevant experience as the assistant of a famous theatrical director who came to direct our school play.
I would like to ask if I’m going to be in charge of all the direction, for example the costumes and the music. I would also be grateful if you could let me now how much the wages will be.
I'm writing to you because I really don't know what to do. You see, I have a really big problem! The bullies of the school tease me because I'm the best student in the class and because of the teasing, no one wants to be my friend just in case they get teased too. I don't know what to do because I liked studying and school and enjoyed doing homework but lessons have become a nightmare now and I dread going into the classroom every morning. I don't want to stop studying because my parents would be upset if my grades went down, but I feel really sad that I have no friends.
I really don't know what I should do. Can you help me?
Your friend,
Luke
Dear Luke,
I read your letter and I'd like to give you some advice. You are in a difficult situation since you have no friends to make you feel better. Despite your worries, however, I think there are ways in which you could find a solution.
In the first place, it might be a good idea if you talked to your parents. They can make you feel better, I 'm sure for that!!!! Also they can talk to the headmaster of your school! He can punish those guys that are teasing you. Secondly, I think you should talk to the headmaster yourself. It's better I think. Finally I suggest ignore them. What I mean is not to show them that you're afraid. If you do that, you're giving them what they want. I know it's hard but you should try it!!!!!!!!
